I am, therefore I must think...

The purpose of this blog is similar to many blogs out there: to spread ideas. Particularly my ideas. I consider myself a rational, active minded person. I love the discussion of ideas but if you use any logical fallacies, prepare to be called out on them. I am interested in individual liberty and the philosophies involved with liberty. I refuse to label myself as this type of philosopher or that, because I think broad labels lead to dogmatism and regression of ideas. Respect begets respect, so keep that in mind when commenting.

Please feel free to browse through my public posts to get a feel for who I am and what I think. If you are not a member, I have just recently made it so you can comment on my public posts, however the comment will first need to be approved by me, so please be patient. If you wish to view the rest of my writings (70% of this blog is only viewable to members) please register or login. If you like what I have to say, be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed as well:

Freestar Media

February 21st, 2006, 5:01 pm

A few weeks ago I made a post about Freestar Media and its battle against eminent domain. Freestar Media attempted to evict Justice Souter (the Supreme Court Justice who helped initiate and pass the eminent domain law) under his own law.

"190 Weare residents signed a petition asking the Town to do three things: 1) Seize Souter’s land for the construction of an Inn, 2) set up a fund where donations could be accepted to cover the legal costs of doing this, and 3) set up a fund where donations could be accepted to provide the former owner with just compensation."

Allegedly Walter Bohlin, a member of the board appointed to oversee the public vote of this issue, "made a motion to sabotage the initiative by adding the word "NOT" before all three items."

I want my readers to spread word of this issue by any rational means possible. Visit Freestar Media and help support this just deserts cause.

EDIT:  I have opened a dialogue with Walter Bohlin.  Hopefully I can get some more insight into this by hearing his perspective.  So far, he is avoiding the issue of his involvement in the alteration of the petition or why he thinks this democratic system is just.
